Electric bikes have been gaining popularity for their eco-friendly nature and convenience. However, Brian Hoehl's Electric Race Bike takes it to a whole new level. With a weight of just 9.5 kilos, it is one of the world's lightest electric bikes. The frame, a unique combination of kevlar and carbon, is both strong and incredibly light. The bike is powered by a unique center motor, providing the rider with the right amount of force and torque. The battery, a patented construction, is cleverly hidden in the frame. Equipped with high-end components seen in professional cycling, this is the ultimate electric bike for riders seeking a bit of assistance.
Creating this bike was no easy task. It required the use of a variety of materials, including aluminium, carbon, and steel. The design team, including Brian Hoehl, Sasa Stih, and Ivan Saba, faced the challenge of reducing the bike's weight to a record-breaking level. They overcame this by using untraditional materials for an electric bike, such as carbon and kevlar, instead of metal and alloy.
The design process involved extensive research in aerodynamics and weight ratio to stiffness of the frames. The team used a wind tunnel to create an optimized aerodynamic for the racing electric vehicle. This approach is a new method in the electric bicycles industry, where these parameters have not been explored before. The project took 12 months from the first sketch to the final product and was developed in Croatia.
The Electric Race Bike is not just a design marvel but also a winner of the prestigious A' Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design Award in 2020. The Silver A' Design Award is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
With its unique properties and innovative design, Brian Hoehl's Electric Race Bike is a game-changer in the electric bike industry. It is a testament to the power of design, innovation, and technology in transforming our lifestyle and the way we perceive transportation. The future of electric bikes is here, and it is lightweight, high-performance, and innovative.
